Quietly
Present.
D'Cade is not an app you open. It's a presence that waits. Always ready. Never interrupting.
See how it works
No setup. No friction. Just presence.
Always there
Lives in your system tray. Zero setup, zero friction. Just presence.
Instant Access
Summon with a keystroke. Capture thoughts before they fade. Dismiss instantly.
Private by Default
Local-first architecture. AES-256 encryption. Your thoughts belong to you.
Beyond the surface
Depth that stays quiet
Capabilities that exist only when you reach for them. Never before.
Commander & Agent
Two modes of interaction. Commander for instant, direct actions. Agent for deeper, multi-step reasoning. Both triggered by you, never autonomous.
Voice Commands
Hold a key, speak, release. Your words become text or commands instantly. No wake word, no listening in the background.
Emotion-Orb
The floating orb shifts colour with the time of day — dawn warmth, midday clarity, evening calm. A quiet reflection of your environment, not a notification.
End-to-end Encryption
AES-256-GCM encryption at rest. Keys stored in your OS keychain, never on our servers. Cloud sync transmits only ciphertext we cannot decrypt.
Common questions
Is D'Cade free?
Yes. The core experience — writing, organising Heads, local encryption, automatic backups — is completely free, forever. Pro ($8/month) adds cloud sync, voice commands, AI command bar and Emotion-Orb.
Where is my data stored?
Everything is stored locally on your machine in an AES-256-GCM encrypted database. Encryption keys live in your OS keychain (Windows Credential Manager / macOS Keychain), never on our servers. If you enable cloud sync (Pro), only ciphertext is transmitted — we cannot decrypt it.
Does it work offline?
Fully. Writing, reading, navigation, and encryption all work without an internet connection. Cloud sync and AI features require connectivity, but the core experience is entirely local.
Can I customise the keyboard shortcuts?
The global hotkey (Ctrl+` on Windows, Cmd+` on macOS) is configurable in Settings. In-app shortcuts — Esc to dismiss, arrow keys to navigate — follow system conventions and are documented in the Settings panel.
Does D'Cade run in the background?
D'Cade sits in your system tray and uses 0% CPU when idle. It has no wake word, no background listening, no periodic scanning. It only activates when you explicitly summon it.
